The Kenya Conservatoire of Music Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra that blends playing global classical masterpieces with local, contemporary works from Kenyan composers and beyond. The Symphony Orchestra was started in 2004 by the then Director of the Conservatoire, Atigala Luvai. The orchestra is open to incorporate more intermediate and advanced players, aiming at players of approximately Grade 5+ level and with some ensemble experience. The Symphony Orchestra program serves as a launch pad for music professional opportunities, with many alumni advancing to national ensembles and international studies.

How do I join the Kenya Conservatoire of Music Symphony Orchestra?

The players wishing to join and play in these concerts are required to fill in an online concert sign up form before the beginning of each season. The Symphony Orchestra performs three major concerts, every quarter of the year. The concert seasons run on January to April, 1st Quarter, May to August, 2nd Quarter and September to December, 3rd Quarter. The orchestra rehearses every Saturday from 4.30 PM to 6.45 PM at the Kenya Conservatoire of Music Ballet Studio.
